A seasoned business executive and thought leader with a successful track record of launching and building a private equity startup into a $4 billion asset enterprise that is now part of a $1.2 trillion assets under management Fortune 100 company.
Denis' leadership spans from startup opportunities to global companies within the technology, finance, and banking industries. Denis is a senior business executive who bridges the business and technology domains. He has envisioned, developed, delivered, and managed startups and technology platforms in leading-edge technology environments, with a focus on revenue creation, digitalization, operations effectiveness, and efficiency.
Denis successfully designed and led the build-out of several startups. In 2004 Denis was one of the founders of US Express Leasing (USXL) which raised $125M in private equity (DLJ Merchant Banking Partners III fund). This was combined with a $75M revolving credit facility (Wells Fargo Foothill), and a $150M commercial paper conduit facility (Credit Suisse First Boston). Within 30 months of launch, USXL completed a follow-on $325M term securitization (Credit Suisse). The equity raise and credit facility success was enabled by the de novo build of a state-of-the-art technology platform with robust data analytics and business intelligence capability. USXL became the cornerstone business of a larger private equity raise of $2 billion which secured the formation of Tygris Commercial Finance Group, Inc. in 2008. Tygris ultimately merged into EverBank, FSB, in 2010, and in 2017 EverBank was acquired by TIAA to become TIAA Bank. Denis served as the Commercial Division CIO of TIAA Bank, with over $16 billion in diversified commercial assets. The original startup – USXL – continues as the now $4 billion Vendor Equipment Finance business of TIAA Bank, and under Denis’s leadership was named the 2020 winner of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association Operations and Technology Excellence Award.
Denis was co-founder of a financial industry software startup in 2000, Seismiq Inc., which was later acquired by International Decision Systems and Schroder Ventures. Denis has also led large-scale global IT organizations for major finance companies. His background includes leadership positions with TIAA Bank, EverBank, Tygris Commercial Finance, US Express Leasing, CIT Group, Newcourt Credit Group, and AT&T Capital Corporation. In addition, Denis has served as a CIO Advisory Consultant with The Alta Group. In late 2020 Denis launched Reimagine Advisors, LLC, a business transformation strategic advisory firm.
Denis served as a member of the Board of Advisors for the Ying Wu College of Computing at New Jersey Institute of Technology through 2018. Denis is a graduate of Seton Hall University.
